Jim Huff
Jim Huff is a 1973 graduate of Three Rivers High School. Following graduation, Jim earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Texas AM University, a Bachelor of Arts in Public Justice from St. Mary’s University, and worked toward a Master’s Degree in Criminology Administration from Sam Houston State University.
His work career includes courtroom support for the Bexar County District Clerk Criminal Division, patrol sergeant for the University Police Dept. in College Station, and a patrol deputy for the Nueces County Sheriff’s Department and later the Live Oak County Sheriff’s Department.
But what Huff is best known for is his tenure as Live Oak County Judge from 1987- 2022. According to Huff, “As of January 1st [2023], I am the second longest serving county judge in Texas with 36 continuous years. The longest serving just ran for re-election and was sworn in January 1st [2023], starting his 37th year.”

Chairman, Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend, Chief Elected Officials (covers 11 Counties)
Chairman, Coastal Plains Community Center (mental health portal for nine counties)
Chairman Dispute Resolution Services – (non-profit conducting court ordered and non-court ordered mediations) for 6 Counties
Board Member, 36th Judicial District Juvenile Probation
Heavenly Angels Board Member
Beeville Clubhouse – Treasurer (building organization to open a non-judgmental environment for individuals with a diagnosed disability) currently covers 5 Counties
Treasurer and Past Chairman of Future of the Region South Texas – a think tank organization covering 47 Counties in South Texas that identify problems and support a legislative resolution during legislative session.
Member and Past Chairman – Coastal Bend Council of Governments

Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Assoc. 2017 Senator Rodney Ellis Award for Courtroom Excellence
Texas Indigent Defense Commission – Texas Gideon Recognition Award to Bee, Live Oak, and McMullen County for the first regional approach to Indigent Defense, creating a three-county public defender’s office
Citizen of the Year – City of George West
Citizen of the Year – City of Three Rivers
Citizen of the Year—George West Lions Club
Achievement Award –2021 from STEER—South Texas Energy and Economic Round Table, focused on education and promoting excellence in all phases of the Eagle Ford Shale.
